2018-2019 Crockett archery hunt
Here we are hunting in DCNF in October the weekend before gun season. We brought down Randy, a coworker of Morgan's who has never been hunting before.
It has been raining down here so much that there is standing water where none should be, this is youth weekend and i have not heard one gunshot all day nor have i seen any trucks with kids in them.
Joe, Dale, Randy, Morgan and myself are here at this camp. Great food, fellowship and times.

Bowhunting
This is the 4th weekend 10.22.16. Wind gusting up to 3 mph from the south, it is truly a beautiful morning to be in the woods. I am at Green acres and Morgan is at the hilltop. I have not seen anything moving.
So I read when I am in my stand it helps me pass the time. I came across a very interesting article.

As a hunter I learned about the trees that produce acorns which helps me when I go to a different place to hunt.
We spent the afternoon scouting at Hagerman, we found several trees to hang stands in but didn't get to go to the area where I had hunted previous.
This evening hunt is great, 74 degrees 8 pmh see wind. Now it would be even better to kill something.

Pig hunt
So I was pig hunting 8.27.16 sitting in my tree when the neighbors to the south came by on there gas powered golf cart. Now I had heard this thing a hour or so earlier and knew it was close to Morgans stand then I heard it crank up and next thing I know it parked itself just on the other side of the fence. I don't think they ever saw me but they just kept looking towards the camera and after about 15 minutes they left.
I figured my Hunt was doomed at that point when I heard grunts coming from the woods on my right ( west), they didn't wind me and there was about 12 pigs all in the 75 lb range. I let them all get up to the corn and I have a big tree trunk shielding me from them so I stood up and and drew my bow waiting for a good broadside shot, it happened a let the arrow fly and missed. My glasses were full of sweat and my vision was blurred a bit from my face mask. Well the pigs scattered and my arrow was stuck in the dirt. Now this all took place around 7:55 with still plenty of daylight left so I waited till dark hoping more pigs would show up but they didn't. It got dark so i lowered my gear, climbed down and retrieved my arrow and upon walking back to my gear, 18 yards or so I hear grunting in the woods 10 yards away and all I have is a arrow with a broadhead. I shine my light and there are 2 150 lb or so pigs now I know they are mad cause I am between them and the corn. I get back to my backpack and get my 8" bowie Knife and I see the run across the pasture. Now walking back to my truck which is 500 yds across that pasture in a different direction I keep hearing the pigs grunting and I walk forward 10 steps and turn around. What a scary hunt.

Texas deer season 2016 - 2017
We are about 6 weeks away from the Texas Archery deer season and I guess the best way to get ready for it is to sit in a tree and wait for a pig to walk by and stick it. They have been on camera's in the hours before sunset and that's what time it is. We fed out this afternoon so we have stunk up the place too much...who knows.
It is 90 degrees with a real feel of 94 and a 8 mph east wind.

First am hunt 2015 -2016
Got here in plenty if time to spare sunrise is at 7:28. It is good to be settled in and still have 30 or so minutes to spare before first light, it lets the woods settle down. These critters are not needing the corn by seeing all the acorns on the ground and they are plump looking.
