3rd week in October 17, 2026

On 10.17.25 i went down to the lease to later meet Charlie after he gets out of court. I unloaded my car, I had a brand new folding Velotric folding plus bike. Set up a table and went out to stencil some green leaves on my pop up. So I went to my blind got out and started to paint and I could not stand up without a pain shooting up and down in my right leg. I packed up by painting stuff and went back to the camp called my doctor and got an appointment for Monday morning and laid down with ice on my back and dozed. Charlie came in close to 4, we chilled and went out to hunt around 4:30, after the hunt I told Charlie I was hurting too much to stay and needed help loading up, which he did and was happy to load up and go.

Turns out after a week of pain a mri showed a herniated disk at L5/s1 pushing on sciatica nerve in right leg. Hunting season was over. Grandson Corbin shot an eight point out of the Sigman blind.

2nd weekend October 2025

Got here yesterday and went to the tripod at sigmans. It needed oiling and it is very loud. The feeder and cottonseed feeders were empty. So I left about 530, went to camp and just chilled. Charlie stopped at Buccee's and picked up 20 bags and we put corn in the feeders when he got here. We went to town and got another 25 bags and put it out then went to Jacksboro and got 20 bags of cotton seed

1st week of 1st grade

I took off  8.11.25 thru 8.17.25 in order to ride my bike to school with the boys. After I dropped them off I would go on a 5 mile ride.

October 25, 26,27

Got down last night in time for a 45 minute  sit down, wind was perfect. Did not see anything. Charlie got in around  1030.

 I hunted the pop up this morning and seen a doe but but did not have a good shot, Charlie hunted the tripod at the bow stand and didn't see anything. 

  We put chum out at the field stand and the camp stand and we got in the stands around 430. 

We need new wind ribbons.

October 19 & 20

Me, Morgan, the boys and Charlie made it to the lease. We all seen deer, I hunted sigman and seen 5 bucks but they were all too small, Charlie was at the field and he seen 4 or 5 and Morgan hunted camp with the boys and seen a big spike.

24-25 deer season

Me an charlie came down for the hunt. Beutiful Saturday afternoon sunny skies, 88 degrees, 7 mph n breeze. He is at bow stand and I am at the camp stand. It is 552 been here about an hour

12.1.23 Deer lease

Came down on Friday night,  I drove my car and Morgan, Kaitlyn and boys came down in truck. It is 38 degrees, little to no non wind with overcast skies.

Nothing was seen Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon we moved the maverick blind so we could utilize it.

Saturday evening i seen 4 does at dusk. Morgan shot a doe.

Sunday morning it is crisp.

12/31/23

What a beautiful morning 3 mph west wind, clear skies and 31 degrees. Here I am sitting in the pop up at camp stand. I have a bog pod death grip that my crossbow is sitting in, I practiced with it at the house and it really is a game changer for me. Nothing seen in morning. Got to pop up around 330. Wind is non existence coming from west maybe 3 mph. Feeder goes off at 430 which attracts the doves, cardinals and red shouldered blackbirds.

Amtrak California Zephyr

I took some time off from hunting to ride a train. The wife and I were gone from 11/15/2023 to 11/22/2023. This was our first Amtrak ride and it was great. Lots of beautiful scenery and nice people. We went from Dallas to Springfield Illinois, got a bus to Galesburg Illinois where we got on the California Zephyr to Emeryville California. We stayed in the Hyatt House, we went out to eat with her California cousins at the Left Bank in Jack London Square then Sunday we were back on the train. 

November 11, 23

We came up at lunchtime, each driving from different locations. I am hunting in a ladder stand. The wind is nwn 6-12 mph, some clouds. I bet the sunset will be pretty.

Texas 23-24 gun season

Last weekend of the 23-24 archery only season in Texas, tomorrow 11/4/23, the general gun season opens up. The last time I was here I had 3 does come in right at last shooting light and opted not to shoot. I moved my pop up to the other side of the feeder, it has rained about 6 inches her in kast 2 weeks.

Sitting here in my pop up as the dawn is breaking. I got here about 40 minutes prior to shooting light, wind was from north now from the south which is good for me if any deer show up at feeder

2nd Saturday 23-24

We just came down for the Saturday hunt. Saturday morning I had 3 shooters come in on my right, the leader was the crab claw buck. He sensed something wasn't good as he just stood and watched me and the other 2 came walking up. They never presented a shot.

Opening bow season weekend 23-24

Sunday 10/1/23. 64 degrees, 3 mph se winds, a few high clouds in the sky. I have not seen anything except for doves and cardinals,  lots of morning sounds

Bow Season 23-24

Opening weekend we are doing the evening hunt, charlie is at the field stand and i am here at the other feeder. We dropped a 16' tripod in some trees last week. We spooked a nice buck on the way to the stands and seen tails of at least 3 more. It is in mid 90 se wind at 10 mph and sunny

Sad Day in March

 3/27/22 

Today we had a celebration of life service for my mother, Ann Greenlee. She passed on 3/7/22 after a 5 week stay in the hospital that started out because of a broken pelvis. She was 85. She will be missed by many.

England March 25 2023

My sister and myself came to England in March of 2023 to put my mother's ashes in mine brothers grave, who has been deceased since 1965. Her wish was to have her ashes put in the grave and the North Sea, so this is what we did. Two days later I put them in the North Sea behind the Pakefield church

I have a Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR with a Hawke XB1 scope, the scope has a speed dial so after the 20 yd pin is good you step back to 30 and when that has been sighted in you are good up to 100 yds if you can see that good.

So we are here again at charlies lease hoping to bag a doe or a spike. Feeder went off at 4 pm. Here the next day, hunted this morning it was 33 with 3mph south wind and at 4 it is 63 with 17 south wind. I am hunting in a pop up, 30 yds from feed pen.

last 2022 weekend

Last weekend of 2022 season, in fact it is new years eve. We got here yesterday in mid afternoon and hunted til dark, seen nothing which is unusual for this stand. After the hunt we corned out at 3 places and have one more to do after this morning hunt.

12.31.22 it is 41 degrees, 3 mph se wind with high clouds. First light was at 708 with sunrise 735. Feeder is set to go off at 800 am and 4 pm
